The Town Council unanimously voted on September 22 to remove and trim several trees on Dog Lane, despite a resident’s petition to keep them.

CL&P originally requested that 14 trees on Dog Lane and 11 on Gurleyville Road be removed to protect utility lines.

Dog Lane resident Michael Soares said although it is just a few trees now, he cannot imagine what the area will look like in 30 to 40 years. Another resident said many of the homeowners have children and the placement of the trees prevents drivers from speeding, especially along the tight bends.

The petition that Dog Lane residents submitted in early August saved four trees from being cut, including one from Gurleyville Road and three from Dog Lane.
